Hogue Grip on Max-9 |
4/23/2023 |
Wasn't easy but I got it on. Almost gave up. The key for me was heating the grip up with a hair dryer and using Windex. I actually gave up on using the plastic strips as a shoe horn and after a good heating was able to stretch the Hogue grip over the end of the pistol grip. Kept up the Windex use and was able to work the grip completely on. Really like the feel of the Hogue grip. For me, the original Max-9 grip is not bulky enough. |

My thumb hit the magazine release |
2/26/2023 |
I liked the feel of the sleeve when I got it on. It is 1.277" at the widest point when installed, which was quite comfortable. A little wide for IWB carry, but not terrible. Installing the sleeve wasn't bad with glass cleaner. The cut up plastic inserts didn't help, so I didn't use them. The problem came when I went to the range. Every few shots my thumb would hit the magazine release and I would end up with no round in the chamber. After trying several magazines I gave up and removed the sleeve and shot a few magazines without any problems. This may be unique to my grip, but I don't want to be in a situation where the magazine falls out when I need it to go bang. |

Love it! My hands have gotten so dry as I've aged the Max 9 was a little slippery. Not now! It's like a whole different gun. Great control now! |

Completely different experience |

It is way better to control recoil with this grip. Completely different experience. Much less recoil because of a tighter grip due to a middle finger adds additional recoil control. Much easier and very simple to shoot with one hand. Not easy to install, but I use Windex as a lubricant. |

It’s easy… |

if you follow the instructions that come with it. Warm the grip up first. Use Windex on the inside of the grip and the gun. Use the package to cut out shoehorns. It took me about 5 minutes, start to finish, to install this and it’s an entirely different firearm. |

Dont give up trying to get this on |

I almost gave up trying to get this grip on. When I took it out of the package I thought this must be for the LCP because its so small. I watched the Youtube videos. I tried the method using strips of the plastic packaging to help slip it on. Wet the gun handle with Windex and heated the grip. Pre stretched the grip. Pulled and pushed and could not get it on. I finally used a pliers to grip the beaver tail section knowing I may rip the rubber but at that point I figured it either goes on or I throw it away. I did manage to pull it on and I did rip the rubber a little in the center but it you cant see or feel it. Im not sure if its an improvement or not until I go to the range. |
