John Archibalds comment is incorrect, the Midwest Industries handguard is for the RPR Rimfire style only, it will NOT fit the RPR Magnum style rifle. I know this because I bought one and had to send it back, the new barrel nut is the wrong size and you have to use the new nut with their handguard, theres no way around it. I have not tried this new Ruger handguard yet only because I am assuming it is very large width wise just like the stock handguard is. I would prefer to wait for someone to start making a more low profile handguard for this rifle. |

BIPOD COMES LOOSE WITH FORWARD PRESSURE |
10/30/2017 |
Same issue as with the other reviewer. When applying forward pressure while using a bipod the picatinny rail comes loose after a few rounds.
Clearly, a design defect that Ruger needs to address as the cost of a Gen 2 handguard is moderate. |

gen 2 handguard |

This hand guard is sturdy and well built it comes off center ;screws have to be loosened to realign. Main issue is cant keep it black all I wants to do is turn gray no matter how much oil is applied it continually turns gray this is either a hard-coded anodization problem or Im going to need to paint it Im not real happy with it |

Ruger should fess-up and replace the first gen handguards |

This handguard for $250 is REQUIRED if you want to reliably mount a bipod on your Gen1 Ruger Precision. I tried to correspond with Ruger about the issue - that is when mounting a bipod on a Gen 1 handguard the bipod comes loose whenever you put forward pressure on the bipod - but Ruger basically didnt even care to talk to me - but they will sell me this replacement that addresses Rugers design defect. |
